Developing and communicating a product strategy for the energy retailers comms area, that led to the first successful integration with a third party.
Context
The energy retailer Flux Federation needed to overhaul their communications product. In 2020, the product manager and I kicked off the first phase of a strategic shift for the company.
Approach
We presented our vision for a product solution that was based on a third-party integration. This vision was intended to create a shared understanding across the company and helped us secure funding for a year-long project.
Central to our success was a highly collaborative and transparent workflow. While we maintained close communication with our clients through monthly and then weekly catch-ups, we also committed to providing quarterly progress reports and predefined success metrics. These were presented both internally and externally.
In 2021, the integration with SendGrid was completed on time and within budget. As a result, clients were now able to view email triggers and edit content themselves. This marked the company’s first successful integration with a third party.
