Tina, what’s this?

This about my work as a UX designer – about the things I do to solve people’s problems and create delight.

I have a holistic approach to design. With everything I do, I consider the whole human experience, which goes beyond the screens of web and mobile interfaces. The digital space is my expertise and where I craft, but in the end, I see it as just another tool to serve human needs.

I am a systems thinker. I address complexity by considering the ecosystem of the products and services I design and by leveraging cross-functional work environments. By trade, I am the one wearing multiple hats and connecting the big picture ‘why’ to the detailed ‘how’. I am the glue that’s needed for highly effective teams.

I base my work on research. I believe that customer research is what leads to informed decisions and meaningful and relevant products and experiences. That’s why a big part of my work goes into advocating for research and design thinking practices among my peers. I use my storytelling skills to engage them with research findings and ongoing initiatives. But even more importantly, I want them to become the UX champions themselves. I do that by creating collaborative spaces where people can participate in the design process and develop their own user-centric approach to their work.

More about my background

Originally from Berlin, I completed a BA in Interaction Design Studies at the University of Applied Science in Potsdam, Germany, in 2014. With my passion for creating experiences crossing the physical and digital space, I worked on projects with a focus on interactive installations and exhibition design. My main engagement during that time was with Berlin-based design studios SYNTOP and NAND.

In 2017, I moved to Wellington, New Zealand, and started working in Product Design. The shift into a new culture and domain allowed me to rediscover and grow my interest in user-centric design and design thinking processes. My first years at the energy retailer platform Flux (B to B) provided the fundamental knowledge of working in agile teams and delivering designs based on customer research. I then took on a more leading role as a Senior Product Designer in a highly collaborative product team at the investing platform Hatch (B to C) in 2021. Here, I co-led product initiatives from customer research to deliverables and supported the product team in implementing UX practices.

In 2023, I started freelancing for the charity Trees That Count, which promotes New Zealand’s native trees. My work focused on customer research and product design and happened in close collaboration with Lulu Pachuau, who is one of the leading UX design practitioners in NZ and very inspirational for my career.

I currently live in Berlin and am looking for work opportunities in UX and product design.
